Pulsed field gradient spin-echo NMR experiments in micellar solutions of the water/cetyltrimethylammonium bromide system

چکیده
Pulsed Field Gradient NMR experiments, in their original time domain, have been carried out to separate both water and surfactant self-diffusion coefficients in the micel[ar solution of the system cety[trimethy[ammonium bromide/water. These results have been supported by those obtained by NMR experiments performed with a Fourier Transform spectrometer. The water selfdiffusion coefficients were used to calculate the obstruction effect of the micel[ar aggregates in accordance with a stoichiometric model already used for [yotropic mesophases. It was found that

We present an analytical water diffusion model for inferring important microstructural properties such as axon radius, orientation, and packing density using low-q angular Double Pulsed Gradient Spin Echo (double-PGSE) NMR, taking into account finite gradient pulses. The MR signal attenuation obtained from Single Pulsed Gradient Spin Echo (single-PGSE) NMR reflects the underlying microstructura...
متن کاملNMR Methods for the Fast Recording of Diffusion
The time taken to complete an NMR diffusion experiment is typically ~10 minutes. For systems that rapidly evolve conventional pulsed field gradient spin-echo (PGSE) experiments cannot be used to obtain reliable estimates of molecular mobility. Modern ‘fast-diffusion’ experiments provide a means of obtaining this information and thus open up new vistas for the application of PGSE NMR. In this pa...

Slowly diffusing water molecules were found by quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) in a sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) micellar solution, and both their diffusion coefficient (4.33 x 10(-6) cm2 x s(-1)) and mole fraction (0.057) were determined. After successfully checking the mean slowing down of solvent molecules by the gradient compensated stimulated spin-echo (GCSTE) pulse sequence NMR me...
متن کاملUsing Pulsed Gradient Spin Echo NMR for Chemical Mixture Analysis: How to Obtain Optimum Results
Pulsed gradient spin echo NMR is a powerful technique for measuring diffusion coefficients. When coupled with appropriate data processing schemes, the technique becomes an exceptionally valuable tool for mixture analysis, the separation of which is based on the molecular size. Extremely fine differentiation may be possible in the diffusion dimension but only with high-quality data. For fully re...
